Every once in a while I meet someone, or rather they sort of fall perfectly into my life, and we share a quick and close relationship. This is exactly what happened with our dear friend Whitney Shelhamer. Once upon a time I met her and saw her jewelry at an artisan fair hosted by La Mo in Turlock. It was there I took a photo of a shiny, pretty little ring that Patrick would save and remember and eventually contact Whitney about prior to his proposal.
This is how my relationship with Whitney began, and since then we’ve became friends as we discussed about working together. Patrick and I knew we wanted Whitney to make his ring for the wedding, and Whitney wanted some photos of her new shop, MANNA. So this spring break, Patrick and I drove up the Oregon coast from Ashland to Florence where the shop is, and on to Yachats.
Whitney’s shop truly is a labor of love. She sells her beautiful handmade Jewelry and Apothecary products as well as many other hand crafted items by other artists. We sipped mimosas, talked about all things life: big and small, and became great friends. Patrick and I truly admired the work she puts into this space, and we hope to emulate the feeling MANNA possessed if we ever open a business. We’re not sure what kind of business we would open, but it would definitely feel the way Whitney’s shop made us feel.
